Department of Planning, Ministry of Housing & Urban-Rural Development, Clarifies Work Focuses in 2010
According to the Department of Planning, Ministry of Housing & Urban-Rural Development, the urban planning work in 2010 will focus on the following aspects. Firstly, efforts should be put into enhancing the urban and rural planning and approval; secondly, the legislative system for urban and rural planning should be further improved; thirdly, the protection of historic and cultural cities, towns, and villages should be promoted; fourthly, emphasis should be laid on dealing with the problems of illegal altering of statutory plans and floor area ratios driven by the developers; fifthly, healthy urbanization patterns should be encouraged; sixthly, the construction of ecological cities should be further promoted, as well as the development of low-carbon cities; lastly, the post-earthquake reconstruction in Wenchuan must be emphasized.
