Guidelines on Joint Prevent and Control of Air Pollution Developed by Nine Departments
According to the news from the Ministry of Environmental Protection, the General Office of State Council lately has distributed the Guidelines on Boosting Joint Prevention and Control of Air Pollution to Improve the Regional Air Quality which was jointly developed by the Ministry of Environmental Protection, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Finance, and the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development. It is the first comprehensive policy document on prevention and control of air pollution released by China’s State Council.
Based on the Guidelines, the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region, the Yangtze River Delta Region, and the Pearl River Delta Region will be taken as the key regions for joint prevention and control of air pollution; in the meantime, efforts should also be put into boosting the prevention and control of air pollution in regions like the central Liaoning Province, the Shandong Peninsular, Wuhan and its surrounding areas, the Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan Region, the Chengdu-Chongqing Region, and the West Coast of Taiwan Strait; for the other areas, the local government should carry out the work according to their practical conditions. The target is to establish a completed system of prevention and control of air pollution by the year of 2015.
