National Development and Reform Commission Constantly Focuses on Urbanization
On May 13, the National Development and Reform Commission held a tele-meeting on the work of deepening the implementation of National New-Type Urbanization Plan in the national development and reform system. The meeting pointed out that the work emphasis of this year should be laid on the “issues concerning three kinds of 100 million people,” with the urbanization of people as the center, the development of medium- and small-sized cities and construction of new-type cities as the highlights. At the same time, new breakthroughs should be made in integrating migrated workers into the city, fostering new medium- and small-sized cities, and constructing new-type cities. The meeting also stressed that regarding the great pressure on stable economic development, new-type urbanization should be used as a “multiplier” of consumption demand, an “accelerator” of investment demand, and a comprehensive platform facilitating innovation and creation, as well as further deepened reforms. And the role of new-type urbanization as the golden joint point between stable growth and structural adjustment should be brought into full play.
