GLOSSARY
Liang-Chen Proposal (梁陈方案 liáng chén fang àn): It refers to the Suggestions on the Location of Administrative Center of the Central People’s Government jointly put forward by Liang Sicheng and Chen Zhanxiang in 1950, which suggested building a new administrative center for the Central Government of China to the west of the Old City of Beijing, so as to protect the old city as a whole and promote the balanced development of the capital city. The proposal was not adopted due to some political reasons in spite of its brilliant thoughts on Beijing’s urban development.
