2018 China Urban Forum 100 Held in Beijing
On Jun. 2, the 2018 China Urban Forum 100 was jointly held by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) under the theme of “40 Years of Reform and Opening up of Chinese Cities.” Xu Kuangdi, Vice Chairman of Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, and Cai Fang, Vice President of CASS delivered the keynote speeches. Zhou Ji, the Former President of CAE, representing Professor Wu Liangyong of Tsinghua University, delivered a speech titled “Suggestions on Enhancing Work Concerning Management of Human Settlements Planning & Construction and Education & Science Researches.” Focusing on the conference theme, participants carried out heated discussion on issues including the innovative development of urban planning in China, smart and safe city, analysis on influence to urbanization by the social and economic changes in China at the new era, solutions for ”big city disease,” social integration in the new urbanization, and migrants and city vitality. In addition, people attending the round table expressed their inspiring viewpoints on the “planning, construction, and management in 40 years’ development of reform and opening up of Chinese cities” from the perspectives of different disciplines including natural sciences, social sciences, and engineering.
What’s more, China Urban Forum 100 highly values and supports young scholars, and encourages them to make their contribution for the urban development in China. For this purpose, the Young Scholar Award established. The first “Young Scholar Award” was awarded to Prof. Zhang Jingxiang of Nanjing University, Prof. Chen Binkai of Central University of Finance and Economics, Prof. Chen Yunsong of Nanjing University, and Prof. Zheng Siqi of Tsinghua University
