Airports of Beijing and Tianjin Hopefully to be Connected through Railway
ZHU Jingyuan, the chief designer of the Headquarters of the Capital International Airport Extension, has disclosed that the airports of Beijing and Tianjin will be connected by a railway. The significance of the railway connection between the airports of Beijing and Tianjin lies in the ease of air traffic jam over the Capital International Airport of Beijing. The extension project of Capital International Airport of Beijing is designed according to the expected passenger's throughput in 2015, with the passenger transport capacity of 60 million per year, the cargo handling capacity of 1.8 million tons, and the capacity of the plane taking off and landing of 500 thousand times. In the long run, this designed capacity is still lagging behind the development of the Capital International Airport of Beijing. However, the realization of the link to Tianjin Binhai International Airport may provide a solution to the problem.
